DISCUSSION QUESTION

Read the paper in Volume 26 Issue 2 of AJAN by Neville et al: A stocktake of existing aged care clinical placements for undergraduate nursing students in Australia.

The paper calls into question the adequacy of clinical placements in aged care stating the adequacy is frequently not tested and clinical nursing experts in aged care frequently not available.

The authors suggest the development and implementation of a clinical audit tool and incentives for experienced aged care nurses to participate. What would you suggest to make clinical placements in aged care for undergraduate nursing students more effective and more attractive?

A summary of responses (de-identified) will be published online.
